Reduce Spam

Reduce Email Spam & Protect your Contacts

Everyone wonders how they can reduce the seemingly ever growing list of Spam and Junk Emails they receive each day.

There are a number of things you can do to help stop 'spreading the word'.

One of these is to remove all previous email addresses that appear in a message when you forward it.

The other is to further protect the privacy of your friends and family, and use the Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) when forwarding an email to multiple recipients.

remove existing addresses when Forwarding Emails

It is important to remove all previous email addresses from a message before you forward an email.

If you leave the original message as it is, the email addresses of all previous recipients of the message will be included in the email for all to see.

As the email is continually forwarded with these addresses in plain sight, dozens or even hundreds of addresses will build up. Eventually this list of addresses be collected and used by unscrupulous people to send spam or even worse!

You can help to thwart this problem, and assist in reducing spam, by simply removing previous email addresses before you forward the message.

Removal of these addresses is extremely simple and can be completed in just a few seconds.

Using Blind Carbon Copy (BCC)

If you want to send emails to multiple recipients (lots of friends, family and clients at the same time), it is important to use the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) facility of your email program.

The BCC facility protects the privacy of your recipients and helps reduce spam.

When you send an email to several people using the normal "To:" or "Cc;" fields, all of their email addresses are clearly displayed in the message.

If the email is forwarded, the email addresses of all previous recipients may also be forwarded, as illustrated in the screenshot below.
